The story behind VAIRIFY · Part three of four

Convenience Had to Be Worth It

Safety was the foundation. VAIRIFY Connect and VAIRIFY Business were built around what providers and clients told us they needed every day.

The VAIRIFY framework offers an unprecedented level of protection for the community, crafted over 18 months of listening to the people who need it. Safety was only part of what we heard. Many of the complaints were about convenience, but taken together, they pointed to something bigger: this community had no real home, no single place to socialize, connect, organize, do business, and simply exist without some concern or worry.

This blog covers the social, convenience, and business tools designed to help members socialize, connect, and reduce the friction of operating a business in the community. Those tools are organized into two packages: Verify Connect and Verify Business.

Verify Connect is the shared convenience layer, including search, communication, scheduling, invitations, social feeds, the directory, payments, profiles, notifications, and the tools that help members find and connect with each other.

Verify Business adds the tools needed to navigate and conduct business without friction, including calendars, availability, services and rates, touring, policies, advertising, profile customization, business controls, and the systems and functions that let members manage workflows inside one platform.

There is a lot inside those two packages. So instead of just listing features, we’ll show you how they bring the everyday activities of the community into one framework—simplifying the things that take time, reducing frustration, and giving members one place to connect, communicate, organize, socialize, and do business.

The first of those starts with the member’s profile.

Profiles, Q R Codes and Badges.

We wanted each member to have control.

Each profile has its own URL. Members control what appears, including colors, wallpaper, galleries, services, rates, availability, policies, reviews, announcements, and other selected information.

The profile can become a central point for everything connected to that member. QR codes and V.A.I. badges can link directly to the profile and be used on websites, social profiles, printed material, advertising, or other platforms.

The same verified identity can go wherever the member chooses to use it.

The Connection Suite

Three protocols sit at the center of arranging encounters:

VairiDate — a planned encounter with a specific provider.

VAIRIFY Now — immediate, real-time provider availability.

Invitations — a client knows what they want and lets matching providers respond.

Everything around them supports the same process: profiles and search for discovery, Private Chat for communication, V.A.I. Check for the verified encounter, DateGuard for safety during it, VairiPay for payment coordination, and My VAIRIFY for keeping connections organized.

Coordination happens automatically, making the experience simpler for both verified members from first contact through the encounter.

VairiDate

VairiDate begins at the provider’s profile. A client can select the service and desired time from the provider’s published availability, which is matched against the provider’s calendar so only available times are shown. The provider receives the request knowing there is no scheduling conflict and that it came from a verified member. The provider can review the client’s TruRevu history, accept, decline, or propose a modification. A facial scan confirms the provider’s approval and sends the request back to the client. The client confirms with their own facial scan. Once both members confirm, the pending encounter is placed into V.A.I. Check and the DateGuard queue for the day of the encounter.

During the interviews, providers described the process of coordinating calendars, setting schedules, and communicating through emails, text messages, and phone calls. Clients described the process of setting up online appointments as time-consuming. VairiDate removes much of that friction for both sides, reducing the process of connecting and making an appointment online to a few clicks and a facial scan.

VAIRIFY Now

VAIRIFY Now came from a very different problem.

VAIRIFY Now lets a provider become available in the moment and visible to verified clients searching nearby. The provider activates VAIRIFY Now and chooses whether to show no location, a general area, or additional location information for an accepted encounter. Verified clients searching “available now” can see providers who are currently available. Both members can review the relevant profile and TruRevu history before moving forward. Once both verified members agree, the encounter moves into V.A.I. Check.

The original inspiration for VAIRIFY Now came from my interviews with street-based sex workers. Only 3 of the 23 providers I interviewed worked primarily in street-based settings, but the circumstances those providers described were very different: weather, slow nights, the always-present threat of violence, and the possibility of law-enforcement contact were part of everyday reality. Understanding those constant threats, and knowing the consequences even a misdemeanor conviction could have over the rest of a provider’s or client’s life, I wanted VAIRIFY to give this part of the community another way to connect—verified providers with verified clients. That was where VAIRIFY Now started.

VAIRIFY Now quickly became much broader. A provider can use it whenever there is a reason to become available in the moment: working online, traveling, filling an unexpected opening, or simply deciding to work. For clients, it creates a way to see verified providers who are available in the area they are searching, review their profiles and TruRevu history, and communicate directly. Once both sides have the information they need and decide to move forward, the encounter moves into V.A.I. Check, where the same protection built into every VAIRIFY encounter is applied when they meet.

Invitations

Invitations were made for clients who do not want to spend hours searching online, checking availability, waiting for replies, or having awkward conversations about services and rates. The client enters their preferences, what they are looking for, and the amount they are prepared to spend. VAIRIFY matches the invitation with providers who meet those criteria. Those providers can review the invitation and, if interested, choose to respond by sending their profile. The client can then choose from the submitted profiles and arrange a meeting. Invitations can be sent for right now or for a future date.

An issue raised by every client during the interviews was the amount of time it took to find a provider who matched the criteria they were looking for and was actually available—searching profiles, checking availability, communicating, and waiting for responses. Often, the result was an unavailable match, a scheduling conflict, or no response at all. Invitations simplify that process by letting clients spend their time evaluating verified providers who match the request, are available, and have chosen to respond. Providers receive invitations knowing they meet the criteria submitted by a verified member.

Communication and Connections

Communication and Connections enables conversations, stores contacts, and organizes the activity around each verified member in one place. Private Chat handles direct communication, while My VAIRIFY keeps the connections that grow from encounters, feeds, and everyday activity together. The suite is designed to keep evolving as the community’s communication needs change.

My VAIRIFY

One V.A.I., one place to organize connections. My VAIRIFY brings following, favorites, contacts, saved connections, notes, alerts, and category filters together, so a member does not have to rebuild or reorganize the same activity across separate platforms.

Notifications

Notifications keep members connected to the people and activity they care about, even when they are not inside VAIRIFY. A member can be notified when a favorite becomes available, posts something new, sends a message, responds to an invitation, changes an encounter, or when other activity they choose to follow occurs. Members control which notifications they receive and how they receive them.

Private Chat

Twenty-one of the 23 providers I interviewed used a second phone number or a separate form of communication for work. Private Chat brings that communication inside VAIRIFY, connected to the same verified profiles and encounters used throughout the platform.

Private Chat is the first step in a broader communication suite. Encrypted voice has already been researched and planned for implementation. It is ready to move forward when the community tells us it wants it built.

VairiPay

VairiPay supports more than 120 P2P payment apps and crypto wallets. Each member selects the services they already use and saves the corresponding payment QR codes under those services. When a payment request is made between members, VAIRIFY identifies the payment methods they have in common and presents those options. Once a method is selected, tapping the QR code opens the shared payment service. The transaction itself remains between the members through the external payment service selected for that transaction.

Payment came up repeatedly during the 18 months of interviews. Concerns included processing fees, chargebacks, payment records, and cash. I remember one client’s comment clearly: “I always pay in cash, but carrying cash makes me feel like I have a target on my back.” VairiPay provides an alternative to facilitate transactions between verified members without awkward payment conversations or creating unwanted records.

Revenue Sharing

VAIRIFY grows because of its members, and members should share in the revenue they help create.

As part of the V.A.I. licensing agreement with ChainPass, a member who refers another member receives 10% of the revenue generated through that member’s V.A.I. and 10% of that member’s VAIRIFY Connect or VAIRIFY Business membership.

That 10% continues for as long as the referred member remains a member. It is not a one-time referral payment.

VAIRIFY was built as a partnership with this community. Revenue Sharing makes sure that partnership includes the financial value members help create.

Advanced Search and Scheduler

Advanced Search and Scheduler gives members one place to discover, search, and find what they are looking for across VAIRIFY. Searches can be built around the criteria a member chooses, used for what is available now or scheduled for a future date, and connected directly to VairiDate, VAIRIFY Now, and Invitations. The same search reaches across the Directory, Social Hub, and feeds, and members can also locate another verified member directly by V.A.I. number.

One client I interviewed traveled almost exclusively and wished there were an easier way to search a city in advance and see who would actually be there on the dates they were visiting. Two providers raised the same problem from the other side: making future travel and availability easier for clients to find. Advanced Search and Scheduler connects those two needs. A member can search future dates and find both providers based in that location and touring providers already scheduled to be there at the same time. We will come back to the provider side of that when we get to the Calendar.

A search does not have to end when the screen closes. Members can save what they are looking for, return to it later, and use those same criteria again as availability and activity change.

Social Hub

Social Hub gives the community a place to discover what is happening, find each other, interact, and simply exist together.

Directory

The Directory gives clients a traditional place to browse and find providers throughout VAIRIFY. Every provider receives a standard listing, giving clients a consistent way to review profiles, services, rates, location, and other information before making contact.

Coupled with Advanced Search and Scheduler, the Directory becomes much more powerful, allowing clients to search by city, location, services, rates, availability, and other criteria. Searches can also be set for future dates, so a client planning a trip can find providers who are already based there as well as providers who are scheduled to be there during the same period.

Local and National Feeds

Local and National Feeds give providers a way to put themselves in front of members without relying on a traditional classified listing.

The Local Feed shows interactive provider posts relevant to the area a member is searching. Providers can use it to announce availability, services, travel, openings, specials, or anything else they want the local community to know, while members can interact with those posts and move directly into the provider’s profile and connection features.

The National Feed works the same way across a wider market, giving providers a place to reach members throughout an entire country.

To the member, they are interactive feeds. To the provider, they are advertising that feels like part of the community rather than a static classified listing.

Social Feed

The Social Feed is the window into what is happening across the community. Local and National Feeds are where clients can see specials, providers who are visiting, and posts from both local and national profiles. The Social Feed is different. It is the place where the community itself can talk, share, follow, comment, and simply let each other know what is happening.

It feels very much like mainstream social media because that was intentional. We took something people already understand and rebuilt it specifically for this community, with every member participating through their V.A.I. number.

There was another reason for building it. Several providers I interviewed had been affected by platform shutdowns, account seizures, or the sudden loss of places where they had built an audience. Social Hub was designed with infrastructure in Sweden and Germany to give the community its own social center rather than leaving its entire social presence dependent on outside platforms.

The goal is not to replace everything members already use. It is to make sure the social heartbeat of the community has a home of its own—a place where what is happening inside the community can continue to be seen.

And without the normal filters of mainstream social media, who knows what it becomes?

By this point, VAIRIFY Connect had created the connection layer: discovery, communication, scheduling, payments, social activity, and the tools members use to find each other, connect, and stay connected.

But connection was only half of what providers needed.

Behind every profile, every booking, every trip, every post, and every encounter was a business that still had to be managed.

That is where VAIRIFY Business begins.

VAIRIFY Business is the operating layer—the tools providers need to manage schedules, availability, services, travel, advertising, policies, content, and the business activity surrounding every connection.

That’s the next blog.
